Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable but strong characters has earned her the title of one of the top American actors. Her father was a celebrated playwright. However, she was raised as an all-only child by her single-mother, a nurse. During the summers when she was with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first at Brown University then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career shortly after graduating in the year 2000, before making her television debut the following year. Since then she's been in many films, television productions as well as stage productions. During her career she received numerous awards including her two Golden Globe Awards. While she has received numerous awards throughout her career, theatre is always her main love.
